1941
There were three printings: sold in London & Port-Vila 15 April 1941, sold in Port-Vila only 18 April 1941 and sold in Port-Vila only 4 November 1941.
So there were printed a total of 6000 complete sets of the regular stamps and 6000 sets of the "Chiffre Taxe" stamps.
Additionally 14,400 of the first three stamps were printed. (Info thanks to Jacques Mérot (†).
During the confusion in the French Colonies in WWII, the whole Pacific portion
of the French Colonies came under the free French and supported the Allies.
Caused by the large amount of sales, three overprints were made in Noumea.
First days of issue: April 15th, 1941, Vila and April 19th, 1941, Santo.
They were mostly sold as a complete set together with the overprint
"Chiffre Taxe" stamps as a set of 17.
About 6000 complete sets were overprinted plus a large amount of the low values.
No specimen overprints were made.
