This was the last definitive series issued by the New Hebrides.
After independence this series was issued again with the caption
"VANUATU".

Early general elections were held in the New He-
brides on 29 November 1977 following the dissolution of the Representative Assembly elected in 1975 due to the New Hebrides National PartyThe New Hebrides National Party was a party formed in what was then the New Hebrides (now Vanuatu) during the 1970s. It was one of two parties formed during the country's move towards independence. While the NHNP was supported by British interests, the Union of New Hebrides Communities was supported by French interests. In the 1970s the National Party changed its name to the Vanua'aku Party or Vanua'aku Pati (VP). blocking its work in order to protest the inclusion of appointed members. The NHNP boycotted the election, leading to a victory for the francophone Moderate Party. The Union of Moderate Parties (Union des Partis Moderés) is a conservative Francophone political party in Vanuatu. At the last legislative elections, 1 September 2008, the party won 7 out of 52 seats. Until 2008, it was by far the most popular political party among the French-speaking community in Vanuatu.

Please be cautious with this issue (as with the 1965 Freedom from Hunger) because the stamps react heavily on light
exposure. Here are some samples - images kindly provided by Tony H., New Zealand.
