The text reds:

9 May 1913 --- S. Mary's Mota Banks Is. S. Pacific Ocean
Rather more than a year ago I sent you a copy of a book called "Islands of Enchantment" (Macmillan)
I should so much like to know if you ever received it, as I cannot help fearing that it either is miscarried,
or else you have a quarrel with me, & cannot write.
Hoping all is well with you - Yrs ever - F.E.C.
This postcard came from my friend Bill Holland's collection. Here's his original write-up:
1913 Postcard - Banks Islands via Port-Vila to USA
1d or 10c [non-colonial] postcard rate to USA. The card originates from Miss Florence Coombe, the author of 'Islands of Enchantment' a 1911 book
extolling the virtues of the New Hebrides. She lived in the 'Ladies Quarters' as a teacher on Mota Island.
The card was written on 9 May 1913 and routed to Port-Vila via Port Patteson on Vanua Lava, the main interisland port in the Banks Islands. In all, it took 31 days to
travel the 500 km to enter the formal New Hebrides postal System and be cancelled with the French 'PORT-VILA 9 JUIN 1913 cds [PCH 5 = Goyns-Klinger type PM"].

9 June 1913
An unusual local cover bearing the correct 1d - 10c local rate. The writing is
most likely that of a native and could be decrypted as "To Mr. Jacomb Vila".
Edward Jacomb was acting as a representative of native affairs in Vila at that time.

Solomon Islands picture postcard with the French 5c stamp mailed from Port Vila to Paris. (Klinger coll.)
Note: The text reads "Portrait d'un descendant des singes", = "Portrait

A very strict interpretation of Charles Darwin!
No sender is given so maybe the sender mailed the card to himself at a Paris address for his
philatelic interests.
