Cover to France, the French 10c stamp cancelled with PCH type 7, the stamp paying the
former rate to France, which was not any more accepted in France as the letter was taxed.
Backstamped on arrival Ste. Foy les Lyons on October 3, 1919, travel time 49 days.
As tax stamp served a 10c "timbre de recouvrement" which was transformed into a tax
stamp by extinguishing the word "recouvrement" by hand. ("SeSi" collection)

The Burns Philp & Co. Ltd. steamer MAKAMBO arrived in Sydney on October 4 from Port Vila and may have carried this letter.

Cover(front?) to Paris, the 1911-12 French 20c stamp pays the colonial letter rate introduced on 1 Sept 1920. The "1" of 15 Oct is only very weak but
it is there. And it is very reasonable as the only ship in the NH waters then was the PACIFIQUE. She left Sydney on 2 Oct 1920 and returned on 24 Oct.
